In the realm of high-end full-service interior design, Sara Lynn Brennan Interiors recently completed a project that showcased our expertise in total transformations. Our clients, having relocated from out of state, were drawn to our firm’s full-service capabilities, encompassing material selections, skilled trades, and the ability to execute a substantial renovation.
Prior to the renovation, the house exuded an old-world charm that appealed to its previous owners, who ran an antique store. Our team, during a consult with the real estate agent, could see the potential for reinvented spaces that would better represent the style and needs of our clients. The initial stages involved refinishing all the floors, adding hardwoods to the foyer, and a fresh coat of paint throughout the house—a collaboration with contractor Steve Melton.
However, midway through the kitchen design planning, an unexpected hurdle emerged—an upstairs bathroom leak. Further investigations unveiled not just plumbing issues, but an electrical problem. The clients found themselves tackling unforeseen challenges before the planned renovations could resume.
This is a perfect example of what we mean when we say, “Trust the process.” Large-scale renovations hardly ever proceed without a few surprises, and we actually plan for the unexpected during the design planning phase. (You can read more about the three biggest renovation mistakes to avoid here.)
We were able to help our clients navigate the unexpected issues. The bathroom, featuring an angled tub, marble tiles, and a picturesque window setting, became an elegant retreat. The mirror placement provides a great backdrop for outfit of the day photos!
The kitchen was almost unrecognizable by the time the renovations were complete.
New paint, tile, island, lighting, layout…the transformation in the kitchen was HUGE. We really reimagined the space for our clients, having listened to their needs, what they liked, and how they wanted their kitchen to feel and function.
This project is a prime example of the level of support you can expect when you partner with an experienced full-service design firm. Hiccups and unexpected challenges come with the territory – often you don’t know exactly what you are going to find when you start renovating a home. Our team was able to seamlessly navigate challenges to orchestrate a total home transformation.
