Home Office Envy [ 3 Home Office Transformations Guaranteed To Increase Productivity ]

This year, we saw an increase in inquiries for home office renovations. COVID-19 showed the world that it is possible to work remotely. My clients want their home offices to be an elevated representation of them, meaning this is a place they are displaying awards, accolades and prized possessions that reflect the hard work they have put into their career.

We also talk a lot about functionality because it is not just about the “pretty”; it is the storage, what’s going on in the background (everyone on Zoom is watching!) and cord management that make it all come together for a great cohesive design. We’ve even made a home office do double duty and serve as a whiskey lounge by night!

Can you believe this used to be a dining room?!

Being in Charlotte, so many of my clients work in finance and have reported to their offices uptown for many years. Gone are the days where people are working out of an outdated spare bedroom. Many home offices that we design are showstopping spaces that are visible from the foyer of the home! I love when clients tell me that they “revealed” their new office to their colleagues online to get everyone’s reaction.

Home office envy—who would have ever thought?

Wallpaper and art made the room!

A few of our recent home office projects were some seriously stunning transformations. From outdated to moody & masculine, and a former dining room turned bright & luxe, here are a few stand-out home office updates to inspire you!

Dining Room Turned Luxury Home Office

BEFORE – a seldom used dining room

Our clients rarely used this dining room. What they really needed was a functional and beautiful home office space, and because your home should support your needs and lifestyle, we decided to convert the dining room into a beautiful and bright luxury home office!

After! Bright & beautiful!

The trim work we added really made this space pop! We closed the room in, added French doors, and brightened the space with new paint. We also updated the chandelier and added interest to the ceiling with wood paneling – we never forget to design the 5th wall! Now our client has a magazine-worthy home office that is as functional as it is pretty.

Bold & Beautiful Office Update

Before – in need of an infusion of personality

Even custom homes sometimes need a little love and personalization. Our client’s new construction home included an office space, but it didn’t reflect who they were.

After – wallpaper, art, and lighting make a big statement!

Careful listening and planning helped us design a home office worthy of Zoom calls and getting work done! We made a splash with statement lighting, a gorgeous wallpaper from Carolina Wallcovering, and bold artwork.

Moody & Masculine Home Office

Before – cluttered and in need of intentional style

This home office update was completed in 2020, at the height of the transition to working from home for many people. Because our client was spending so much more time in this office, they wanted it to be a reflection of their interests, and a space that could transition at the end of the work day as a place to relax and entertain.

After – intentional, personal, and fun

We designed this home office as a gorgeous space where our client could be excited to work-from-home every day. A well-designed work environment is the key to productivity, happiness and success, and we’re here for it. Functional, personal and inspiring – it even has a whiskey bar in the corner!
